Poland Strengthens Defense with New FlyEye

On November 15th, the Armament Agency of the Ministry of National Defence and WB GROUP signed an executive agreement for the delivery of FlyEye unmanned aerial systems. The contract was officially signed by WB GROUP CEO Piotr Wojciechowski and Brig. Gen. Artur Kuptel, head of the Armament Agency. The ceremony was attended by Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Secretary of State Paweł Bejda, marking a significant step in strengthening Poland’s defense capabilities.

“I am very pleased that we are investing in future technologies that are already playing a crucial role on the battlefield. One such example is unmanned aerial vehicles, and among them the latest purchase – the FlyEye system. These drones are primarily used for reconnaissance and have already become a key component of the Polish Army’s equipment.”, emphasized Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The Minister of National Defence also highlighted the versatility of the FlyEye drones, stating, “FlyEye drones are valuable in both military and non-military operations. They are used by all branches of Poland’s armed forces. I am pleased that this investment also supports the Polish arms industry. Today, we are carrying this out in collaboration with WB Electronics, which provides equipment of the highest quality.”

The implementation agreement signed between the Armament Agency and WB Electronics, the leading company within WB GROUP, covers the delivery of thirteen FlyEye Unmanned Aerial Systems to the Polish Army, along with technical documentation, logistics support, and training packages.

The delivery of the unmanned platforms is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. Additionally, WB GROUP is supplying thirteen FlyEye systems as part of two earlier implementation contracts signed in April and September 2024.

The increase in operational capabilities concerned the modification of navigation systems, strengthening the level of security and integration of unmanned aircraft with the TOPAZ Integrated Combat Management System.

The framework contact for the delivery of approximately four hundred FlyEye Unmanned Aerial Systems sets was signed on September 5th, 2023, during the 31th MSPO exhibition in Kielce.

FlyEye unmanned aerial systems are designed to conduct image reconnaissance from the air using optoelectronic heads equipped with cameras enabling image recording in daylight and using thermal imaging.

The system has been successfully tested in the Polish Army, where it performs tasks for both the Operational Forces and the Territorial Defense Forces. It has also proven its effectiveness in high-intensity conflict scenarios during military operations.
